Today was well spent eating and drinking non stop with Jacjac.

We decided to meet for dinner at Tanjong Pagar because I was craving for Japanese food. Seeing all the instagram posts on Hanare Japanese Cafe's Bara Chirashi set made me even more tempted to try it out. 

Bara Chirashi with 4 sides(Some stew, salad, edamame & salmon) + miso soup. 

It was really value for money. The sashimi slices were thick and overflowing. We kept eating and eating but there were still alot left in our bowl. I'm very puzzled hahaha!

We had cakes at Cake Spade before dinner. Since Hanare only opens at 6.30pm and we had one whole hour to spare, we decided to chill at Cake Spade first. This was my third time at Cake Spade for the month and I must say their cakes are really fantastic. We had the Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake and Red Velvet this time. I know, fat die me. 

At last we went to Five Tapas Bar to chill. Ended up getting a bucket of Hoegaarden. We left at 12 to catch the train but I was so busy instagramming that I missed my station. So I had to cab back from Pionoor. I'm such a klutz seriously LOL. 

Yellow Cup Coffee Cafe & Loysel's Toy

Stumbled upon Yellow Cup Coffee Café near Clarke Quay on a Thursday.

So here's my lunch, with a unicorn and a dwarf for company!

Tried the Honey Latte because I thought it sounded interesting and unique enough! And it really does taste like honey!

They had limited types of pastries on display but this chocolate croissant like pastry was really good! They help you to warm it up, so the outside was crispy and the inside was warm and soft with thick chocolate!! I'm still craving for it up to now hahaha!

The next day CY, Marc, Limin and I decided to visit Wee for lunch at her workplace. After Wee went back to work the rest of us went to Loysel's Toy for some chilling session!

CY was a major screw up that day! First he laughed at Wee for having to go back to work and started dancing around till he accidentally hit someone walking past. Second he asked a random man(he mistook the man for the café staff) if he could park his car outside. Third he pointed middle finger at some driver because she was blocking the road. Last but not least he shouted at the man in the intercom at the entry barricade thing and drove way after paying only 58 cents LOL!

  They had croissants, tea cakes and muffins etc! Not a huge range but good enough!!

We ordered 3 to share, because CY said he was very full and couldn't eat anything.

 

Lemon Tart!!

I was craving for Lemon Meringue Tart since the day before and I was so glad Loysel's Toy had them, even thought it's just Lemon Tart without meringue heehee! This was my favourite for the day!

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cake.

Taste was not bad, but the texture was a little too dry and hard for my liking.

Blueberry Cheese Cake was Marc's and Limin's favourite of the day! She said that the cheesecake was solid enough and I agree! :D

 

 

2 Days With People I Love

Monday was probably one of the days which our clique was looking forward to, because the sun started rising from the East and.. Vic agreed to let us visit his house!!! This was the first time ever in like 8 years since we've known him hahaha! So even though I only had a few hours to spare I chiong-ed to his house after a job interview in the morning! #diealsomustgo  

His mum was damn nice, she cooked lunch for us and boiled green bean soup(my favourite!) even! The chiffon cake is also handmade by her and I was so tempted to ask her to teach me!! Because my cake baking skills are horrendous, especially when it comes to making sponge cakes.   

Surprisingly Vic's house is very suitable for taking photos. Look at the fabulous lighting hahaha!

After that I made my way to Vivo to meet Jay, and we had an impromptu picnic at Sentosa on the beach. It was really a breath of fresh air, sitting by the sea munching on nuggets and chips while feeling the cool breeze. So relaxing I will totally try that again one day!! :D

We left at around 11pm, and it was very convenient for me that night because my home for that night was at Costa Sands Resort hahaha! We had a clique chalet with nearly full attendance(with the exception of huhu)and we all agreed to keep awake till the next morning to chit chat and play card games. And guess who was the first one to fall asleep as usual? Me hahaha! I was sleep deprived for so many days I naturally dozed off after stealing thumb's bed. But not before munching on chips on the upper deck and dropping pieces on Vic who was on the lower deck LOL. He was super disgusted and I highly suspect he didn't know it was me. He probably thought some weird stuffs dropped down from the ceiling.

By the way I slept a total of at least 7 hours, in between I woke up to amchio a little as I heard Vic spouting lots of rubbish. When I finally woke up at 8am all of them were like "You finally woke up!! You come here to sleep one is it?!" LOL.

 The next day I had an impromptu lunch with Clem because I was nearby at Chinatown for an interview. This was at some seafood restaurant by the river at Raffles Place. I had the seafood fried rice which portion was so huge I seriously don't think 2 days of the rice I eat can add up to one plate of this.

Fast forward to the same night, where I met the money sucking temps(& Clem again) for Ah Kok's belated birthday celebration! This was a snapchat to Ah Kok to remind him that we were waiting for him to join us hahaha!

 The main courses were mostly below 20 bucks, and portions were huggeee!

Clem recommended the Fish & Chips, and after ordering Latin was asking how come he didn't order Fish & Chips as well. Clem then revealed that he always feel nauseous after eating the huge portion of Fish & Chips plus alcohol. Latin then thanked him sincerely, for telling him only after he had ordered LOL!

 We had half a dozen of ciders, all different flavours and colours.

The ciders were all so pretty we lined them up and started snapping photos to insta!

Fat Die Me Week

So last week Wee, CY, Marcus & I visit Marche @ 313 Somerset for dinner after a long time!

 CY had smoked salmon, sausage and a whole Rosti to himself too.

The guys complained of feeling sick after eating a whole Rosti, so me and Wee laughed at them because we had originally wanted to share the food so we could try more varieties hahaha! And they finished all the Rosti and left none for us!!

I had always hated pork knuckles but after I tried this I totally love pork knuckles!! It was soooo delicious I have cravings for this from time to time now!! Definitely going back for more soon!

The next day I met Tony for another café outing, this time at Brew Maison because their Latte Art Artist was on duty!! :D

Before he came I was staring at this Alpaca in the display, it was so adorable!!

We made reservations for the 3D Latte Art one day before and were allocated a timing.

We had the Goguma(Sweet Potato) Latte and Kabocha(Pumpkin) Latte! They also have Taro(Yam) Latte! I must say their drinks are really awesome!

Dinner for that night was with the family. The sister brought us to Grand Shanghai to try the food and take a look at the place because she was interested in holding her wedding there.

I was the first to reach and it took them quite a long time to find our reservation that I begin to wonder if I entered the wrong place lolol. Turned out they wrote my sister's name as Tan P F instead of Chan P F.

The place was really grand and the ambience was great. I remembered I was pretty fascinated when I first stepped in. There was even a stage with an Old Shanghai theme and the singers sang plenty of old songs!

The whole restaurant was fully booked and I don't think we could have dined there if we didn't make a reservation.

The food was awesome!! I loved every single dish, including the desserts!!

Oops and I forgot about this! Raymond's Macarons all the way from Paris from the bro-in-law! Macarons just make me so happy because they are all so colourful!!

 

 

 

 

Having Fun in Hong Kong Day 3 & 4

Third day was breakfast at Lin Heung Tea House, a Dim Sum place.

Directions: From Exit C of Central MTR Station, turn left and walk straight until you see Queen Victoria Street. Turn left and walk until you see the Central Mid Levels Escalator. Take the escalator up and go down to the stretch of street as shown in the photo.

 Lin Heung Tea House is one of the oldest Dim Sum place in Hong Kong and it's a hot spot for the locals. It looks like an amiable place from this photo right?

Wrong. This is it when the Dim Sum cart comes out from the kitchen! Everyone will rush forward to crowd around the cart and snatch baskets of Dim Sum from the auntie.

Our kiasu instincts kicked in and the sister managed to grab two baskets off the cart on the first round!

I snatched this I snatched this! Okay this was the only basket I snatched. Later on we got another basket of Char Siew Pau because both me and the dad loved it!

We were wondering why there was no Har Kow. This was grabbed by the mum. The dad scored 0 points when it comes to Dim Sum snatching lolol. The food was not bad but not excellent. Nevertheless it was an experience that I wouldn't regret, how often do you get to snatch Dim Sums in an old school restaurant? Not that I enjoy snatching food but you know! Okay, maybe you do get that bit of satisfaction. LOL.

After breakfast was coffee seeking activity for the two coffee addicts in the family. We went to this little café named Pret inside Central's MTR station.

We couldn't help but notice that they had a very good concept. Espresso, fresh juices, hot soups and wraps and pretty yoghurt and granola bowls, their business was brisk.

The dad made a mistake and ordered an espresso lol! He complained the cup was too small and it didn't have any effect on him.

We had quite a lot of time left and walked over to the IFC tower to specially look at Macarons. IFC tower houses many famous Macarons stores such as Pierre Herme, Le Gouter Bernardaud and Paul Lafayet.

We decided to try the Macarons from Paul Lafayet. Not bad but the crust crumbles too easily. I liked it that the macarons' crusts were slightly to the crispier side.

Then we strolled slowly to the harbor to catch the ferry to Lamma Island. There were signboards all around so it was quite easy for us to locate Ferry Pier 4.

We thought we would feel the breeze sitting out in the open. But it was actually quite hot and made us super dizzy lol.

We started our journey from Yung Shue Wan and trekked all the way up to Sok Kwu Wan.

 

We took quite long to reach the beach I wondered why, because many sources mention that it's a short walk from Yung Shue Wan. :(

Having the famous Ah Po's Tau Huey to cool ourselves down. This has got to be one of the nicest beancurds I've tasted in my life! You cannot possibly miss it on your trek up.

Took us ages to reach the top of the hill. And it was so scorching hot our skin tones all changed colours by the time we reached Sok Kwu Wan lol! But seriously, the climb was made even more tedious because of the blazing hot sun and I do not recommend going on this trek if you have elderlies with you. You can burn a lot of calories though I suppose.

All the dishes were freaking delicious, especially the chicken with cashews minus the celery(I hate celery) heehee! We also ordered the corn soup with crab meat and it was the only dish that tasted mediocre. I thought the canned corn soup tasted much better. But Rainbow offers complimentary ferry ride back for all their customers with no minimum spending, so don't worry about return tickets.

This is totally like a dream picture!! It looked more like Venice than Tai-O actually.

The ferry ride back was so romantic, just look at the awesome view outside!! This was the best picture I could capture though. The waves were so huge it was not advisable to even walk around.

We went back to get some Macarons which I wanted to try so badly! Pictures later! :D

Went back to Yee Shun for awesome desserts for the last time. And I had my mango milk drink, yes again!

Crazy photos snapping time the moment I went back to the hotel!! The Macarons were so pretty!! & Hong Kong is the nearest place where I can get my hands on these delicious Macarons!

Pierre Herme does not sell their Macarons singly though, the least you must get is a box of 7. But they taste really fabulous, and it you are not a fan of sweet stuffs, you can get sour flavors like the blueberry and passionfruit!! I used to think all Macarons are meant to be sweet, it's really amazing every time you sink your teeth into a different flavor!

Luggage tags for gifts! Doesn't the Minnie look stupidly cute? I love cute things with a tinge of stupidity/ugliness in them! I hope you get what I mean. :D

On our last day we split up to get different gifts for maximum efficiency lol! Me and the dad sat at Macdonalds for at least an hour while waiting for Hang Heung's store to open. They are very famous for their wife biscuits and tadahhh we got half a dozen boxes to bring back!

After that we went back to the hotel to meet the mum and sister before heading to Sheng Kee Porridge and Noodles shop for breakfast again. We had the same things as before so no photos this time round!  

Then it was check out and to the airport! We had Popeyes for lunch since it was quite early, and the sister bought Apple Pie Sundae from Macs ohmygosh I loved it!! But actually it's nothing special, just the usual soft serve drizzled with strawberry sauce and the usual apple pie sliced into halves. But I still love it anyway! :D

I shall say it again, I love airplane food!! And this time there was ice cream in my favourite flavor, cookies and cream!! <3

Back home to enjoy my Lao Po Bing. Ugly but delicious. That's why they say never judge a book by it's cover. HAHA! Okay I can't believe I just said that. :D
